Things Were Wrong and Then They Were Right...

On April 18th, we had our Family Night here at Amelia Earhart.
Our Title One office and many of our students participated in a play called,
"Things Were Wrong and Then They Were Right Here at Amelia Earhart Elementary."

Sande Montano, our Title One Coordinator, wrote and directed the play which was a huge hit!

The students who participated did such a wonderful job!

The play started out with "Mr. Cox" explaining all the terrible, mixed up things happening at the school.  He was so troubled and didn't know how he was going to fix things!

Things were all wrong! The students weren't listening to their parents, they were getting all muddy at recess, the computers were freezing up, the teachers were late... Everything was going wrong!

He decided to ask the students if they had any ideas about how to fix things.
The first idea was to have a ukelele concert.
So, that's what they did.  Our 6th graders played and sand "Kiss the Girl" from The Little Mermaid and things started to get a little better.

The second idea was to have the 1st graders sing about what they knew.  So. they did and things improved some more but they still weren't quite right.

"Mr. Cox" was so troubled. He couldn't remember what the third idea was!

Luckily a student came to the rescue and remembered what the third idea was -- a parade to help the students remember what they needed to do so they could be successful on the end of level tests!
So, there was a parade...

That was just what was needed!
Pretty soon things were back to normal and our students were doing everything they needed to do so that they could be successful on their end-of-level testing!
They know they need to:

Get Enough Rest
Eat a Good Breakfast
Come to School Every Day
Come to School On Time
Do your Homework
Read Every Night

When students did this, things at Amelia Earhart were back to normal and Mr. Cox was able to enjoy a well-deserved vacation in Hawaii!

Thank you to our Title One office and all their help in remembering the things we need to do!
You are all amazing!

And a special THANK YOU to Mr. Olsen (one of the Title One aides) for the AWESOME piano playing and song arrangements!  They were great!
