Congratulations Mrs. Montano and Mrs. Armstrong!

On Tuesday, November 19th, Mrs. Sande Montano and Mrs. Kerry Armstrong were honored at our school's faculty meeting.

Our amazing Title One Coordinator, Mrs. Sande Montano

Mrs. Montano received the Crystal Apple award for her outstanding work in our Title One office.
Here is what was said about her achievements:

"Sande has worked as the Title One Coordinator here at Amelia Earhart for the last four years. During her time here she has helped the school to establish a successful intervention program that supports students in learning reading, writing, and math. Sande has also worked hard to institute very successful parent nights at the school.  One of the many parent night activities she has planned is the annual read-a-thon. She contacts people all over the state to get them to commit to come and read with students that day. The day has been a big success each year and we come closer and closer to the goal of having a parent read with every child each year. Sande is very supportive of teachers and wants to help them be successful in their classes by providing the tiered interventions. We are very appreciative of her many skills and hard work. We are lucky to have her be a part of our Amelia Earhart faculty."

Our wonderful ESL Coordinator, Mrs. Kerry Armstrong.
Mrs. Armstrong received the Outstanding Educator award for her hard work with our ESL students.
"As a faculty we appreciate all that Kerry does to help our ESL students. Kerry works very well with teachers to make the scheduled time work and still be able to provide the ESL services students need. Kerry has a very positive attitude and is great to work with each day. She has helped many students to feel successful, as they have worked to learn a second language and become proficient in reading. Kerry cares for the students she works with and they can feel it. They look forward to working with her on computers and practicing their new skills as she assesses them. We are very grateful for her hard work and the effort she puts in to teaching our ESL students. We are happy to have Kerry be a part of our faculty."
We are so fortunate to have such amazing ladies working so hard to ensure our students have such a rewarding experience here at Amelia Earhart!
Thank you Mrs. Montano
and Mrs. Armstrong!

Author Visit from Tom Angleberger

Amelia Earhart 5th and 6th grade students were excited to welcome Origami Yoda author, Tom Angleberger, to the school on October 18th.
Students were entertained by his energetic and fun assembly.

Several students were called upon to participate in different activities throughout the assembly and everyone learned how to fold their very own Origami Yoda.  He was even nice enough to stay after and do some autographing.
What a great guy!

If you are a Star Wars fan and you haven't had a chance to pick up and read one of his books then
WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
